Is Alex Otti Painting The Roads Constructed By Orji Uzor Kalu?
First of all, the proper question should be, “did Orji Uzor Kalu leave any road behind for Otti to Paint?” The answer is a straight NO.
Since the issue came up on the main stream media and the heralding outburst it attracted on the social media, being the claim that Dr. Alex Chioma Otti is currently painting the roads constructed by the former governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, I have taken my time to traverse every nook and cranny of Abia state, but couldn’t find any road constructed by Orji Uzor Kalu anywhere in the state.
Of course, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu constructed a handful of roads during his eight years stint in office as the governor of Abia state, but the projects were replete with corruption and sub-standardness, that they were poorly constructed and most of them did not survive more than six months after construction, and definitely, a few years after his tenure had elapsed, none could be found anywhere in the entire state,
Definitely, Orji Uzor Kalu was not the only one caught up in this malaise, no, his entire successors under PDP took up his pattern, as their mentor, and carried out half-baked projects or corrupt-laden phony infrastructural projects that didn’t stand the taste of time.
Their antics was to hire none trained contractors like Bawas, Pumeko, C. E. Henze and other people like them who knew little or nothing about construction and compensate them with construction jobs as a reciprocity for one favour they had done for them in the past, or another. At the end they will poorly fund them and asked them to do whatever they could with the little money dispensed to them. As a result, they would just level the roads and cover them with what seemed like asphalts, and six months later, they are all washed away.
This scenario is a sharp contrast to what Dr. Alex Chioma Otti is currently doing in Abia state for the past three years in office as the executive governor of Abia state. First, he employs the best hands, like the renowned Julius Begger, Crainburg, Planet and other internationally acclaimed constructing giants to handle the roads he has so far built in the state. Then, he gives them his specifications, times them and funds them adequately. And so far, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti has constructed hundreds of roads, bridges, terminals, just to mention, but a few, and all are built to last; yet he is still building, day and night, and little wonder the only words on the lips of Abians today is “Otti or Nothing” come 2027.
